USEFUL LINKS AND WEBSITES

LEARNWELSH.CYMRU

This is one of the most comprehensive websites on learning Welsh. It has very useful videos and resources, many of which are specifically designed for young families learning Welsh. It is also the place to go should you want to join a Welsh class online or in person.

BBC BITESIZE

BBC Bitesize has many fantastic videos in Welsh that support and compliment the curriculum taught in schools.

The link below will take you to the 'Welsh for Learners' page.

TIP: When you click on a video, there is a handy transcript underneath it containing the Welsh words and an English translation.

BOOK TRUST (Pori Drwy Stori)

Information on local libraries, rhyme times, free books, videos and recordings of Welsh and English books for children as well as free activity sheets and downloads to use.

They are also responsible for the Pori Drwy Stori Scheme that is often used in Welsh schools for children in Nursery classes (Dosbarth Meithrin). Check out their website by clicking on the link below, as they have lots of videos and recordings of books and rhymes. 

CYW / S4C

Great Welsh language programmes for young children, including Welsh language Paw Patrol, Octonauts, Numberblocks, Olobob Top and many more... 

MUDIAD MEITHRIN (PRE-SCHOOL WELSH LANGUAGE PLAYGROUPS)

This website has information on local childcare and playgroups that operate in Welsh. It also has links to podcasts videos and other resources that may be useful.

DYSGU GYDA SAM

This is a fantastic website that has perfect books for Foundation Level learners. It also has great guides for parents that don't speak Welsh or who are learners, plus free downloadable reading and writing resources for children. Check out their website by clicking on the link below.

DUOLINGO

The well known online language course is now in partnership with the National Centre for Learning Welsh

READING EGGS

A popular website where children learn to read in English through games and tasks. Many schools subscribe on behalf of the families, so do contact your child's place of learning before signing up if interested.
