HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS
At the time a child begins to read, their school may send home a list of common words for them to learn. Schools often (but not always) group these in the first 100 words, then follow on with the next 200 words. Starting with simple and/ or very frequently used words, the lists then progress in complexity.
The idea is that, as the children learn these common words by sight, they'll gain confidence and fluency in reading.

The videos and lists below have been collated from work sheets sent home by teachers for children at Welsh primary schools.
